V-SLAM Ministry
The Lord is my
strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my
heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalm
28:7
(Footnote: Song - Not just thoughts of thankfulness, but actually
verbalizing praise is appropriate when God graciously intervenes in one's life.)
Sing unto the Lord,
O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Psalm 30:4
I will sing of the mercies of the
Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all
generations. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy
faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens. Psalm
89:1-2
It is a good thing to give
thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, o most high: To
shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every
night. Psalm 92:1-2
O sing unto the Lord a new song:
sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless his
name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory
among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the Lord is
great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
Psalm 96:1-4
Praise ye the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his
power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to
his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the
trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with
the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and
organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the
high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise
the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 150:1-6
OUR
VISION is to create an atmosphere of worship whereby the presence of God is
invited to dwell so that all who enter will feel the love and peace of God.
True worshipers will experience healing, deliverance, restoration, and a time of
refreshing as they surrender totally to the Holy Spirit and begin to sing a new
song.

The following are questions you might have about the
music ministry of JWC and answers to those questions:
What is required of me should I
desire to serve in the music ministry of JWC?
The first step taken to become a part of this
ministry would be to request an application. You will notice that one of
the first questions on the application is concerning membership.
Membership is a requirement for this level of ministry. Exceptions are
sometimes made for those who are in the process of becoming am ember.
Also, the book "Undercover" by John Bevere must be read by anyone wishing to
join this ministry. This book helps you to understand spiritual authority
and gives us a scope in which we can resolve conflict and keep order in the Body
of Christ.
Commitment to this local body and its leadership is
of utmost important. Your willingness to support and participate in
outreach efforts, parades, revivals, and special events is essential to the
overall effectiveness of the ministry.
What if I cannot come to a Friday
evening practice?
You must call Sis. Lisa Combs as soon as you know
that you will not be able to attend a practice or a service. If your work
schedule prevents you from practice, you are still welcome to sing or play with
the team on the songs that you are familiar with.
Can I be involved in other areas of
ministry and still participate in the Music Ministry?
Yes. Flexibility and the gift that is most
needed for that service or time must have liberty. Most of our ministry
members do serve elsewhere. However, a degree of priority and
accountability is necessary.
Are there musical/vocal requirements?
Yes, to an extent. However, formal training is
not required. An educated musician/vocalist is a great asset in enriching
our team, but we are not dependant on that. We rely on the anointing of
the Holy Spirit for each opportunity that presents itself to us. True
worshippers who are pure in heart and who worship in spirit and in truth will
achieve the goal. The perfection and skill of an individual who is
self-reliant and self-sufficient in the music field will not.
How are members contacted should a
change occur?
If you have an email address, correspondence is sent
via email, or a phone call is made with information such as a cancellation or
general information.
The following are
links to the guidelines and application for the JWC Music Ministry. The
application is a simple one, and should you have any questions, please contact
Sis. Lisa Combs at
jwcpastorswife@hotmail.com or by calling the church office. Sis. Lisa
is here to serve. We suggest that you earnestly seek God as to His will
concerning this area of ministry. Our stage appearance may deceive you.
We have all sacrificed, practiced, and worked hard in the ministries of the
church. We have families and employment requirements. We are
serving, not being served! We are worshipping, not performing. We
are giving God all the glory and glory not in ourselves. We feel honored
to serve as ones who together lead this body into His throne room to sit at His
feet and enjoy His presence as He surrounds us.
