Our Target

"Who We Are Trying to Reach"

Someone once asked the question to a member of a church, “Who is your church trying to reach?”  The response was, “Everyone!”  While that is the goal of the great commission and should be the prayer of every church, Jubilee Worship Center realizes that we cannot reach everybody.  People differ just as churches differ in culture, language, ideas, goals, purposes etc.

In order for Jubilee Worship Center to be an effective ministry in Northwest Indiana we must understand whom we will reach and how we will reach them.

In order for Jubilee Worship Center to reach people we have to define our Target.  This is done in four ways:

1.  Understand Geographic area.  Where do the people live that we are trying to reach?  It is important that people do not choose a church based on location any longer.  They choose a church for a variety of reasons:  programs, relationships, etc.  Therefore we will reach some and not others.

2.  Understand the demographics.  Population, Age, Marital status, Income, Education level, and Occupations.  If we are going to reach Northwest Indiana we must become experts on what is in Northwest Indiana.

3.  Understand the culture.  This is more important than knowing the demographics.  Culture means lifestyle and mindset of those that we want to reach.

4.  Understand the spirituality.  Once we know the culture we need to know what kind of spiritual background people have in our area.

With that in mind Jubilee Worship Center targets to reach people in Northwest Indiana who have an interest in making a better life for themselves and their families.  They have a median income of approximately $20,000-$35,000 per year.  They spend more then they make.  Most have at least two children and want things to be better for them.  Most have High School education and College or Trade School.  They work swing shift.  They like contemporary music.  Going to the movies.  They dress casual most of the time.  Health and fitness are high priorities for them.  Many have attended church in the past but have gotten away from Spiritual things.  However they have a spiritual belief system.  They are skeptical of “religion”.  We affectionately call them unchurched Charlie and unchurched Charlene.
